As many people know, Disney, or Walt Disney, is a very iconic animation studio with heavily shaped generations. Founded in 1923 by the Disney Brothers (Walt and Roy), the studio’s films heavily influenced our childhood imaginations through their very innovative and unique art style and storytelling–from the birth of Mickey Mouse to their famous adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937). We may have encountered these films or series through different means; some—cable and some—either national TV (GMA 5 and ABS-CBN 2) or school.  It goes without saying that at one point, in our innocent lives, Mickey’s existence made us want to land a foot in Disneyworld to meet the gang—perhaps what would have been the equivalent of a K-POP fan meet today.

What makes Disney’s films great is because it is timeless. Mickey Blog (2018) notes that “Part of the wonder, the allure and the magic of Disney parks, films and experiences is how they attract audiences of all ages. With storylines that ring true, loud, and clear, no matter if you are seven years old or 77 years old, something is addicting and, well, indescribable.” Disney also has motivational quotes that will help us, adults, hustle in the “real world.”

Note, this may also serve as a movie recommendation for you to watch during your off times.

1. “Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it.” –Rapunzel. Tangled (2010)

2. “Don’t just fly, soar!” – Dumbo. Dumbo (1941)

3. “You control your destiny; you don’t need magic to do it.” –Merida from Brave (2012)

4. “Life’s not a spectator sport. If watching is all you’re gonna do, then you’re gonna watch your life go by without ya.” –Lavern. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)

5. “”If you focus on what you left behind, you will never be able to see what lies ahead.” – Gusteau. Ratatouille (2007)

As a virtual assistant, one of the biggest obstacles one may face involves expanding one’s skillsets. At times, what may hinder us from expanding our skills can be our financial and time constraints, which may be anchored on personal responsibilities and fears. Now, having a specific set of skills can be very rewarding. In an article by Masterclass (2020), they defined specialization as:

“the process wherein a company or individual decides to focus their labor on a specific type of production. In layman’s terms, specialization means focusing on a specific job. When an individual specializes, they limit their focus to one specific activity. When a company specializes, it focuses on a narrow range of goods or services.”

The article also noted that one of the enormous benefits of specialization is increased productivity. Task completion is faster because the person knows the ins and outs of it. Although, it is always advantageous to continuously learn a plethora of skills as it can also present numerous project opportunities for you to work and grow on! Next time Ms. Lina Simoy and LFS Consulting invites you to train, it is high time you swallow your fear and venture outside your comfort zone.

6. “All it takes is faith and trust.” — Peter Pan. Peter Pan (1953)

7. “Even miracles take a little time.” — Fairy Godmother. Cinderella (1950)

8. “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” — The Emperor. Mulan (1998)

9. “Giving up is for rookies.” – Philoctetes. Hercules (1997)

10. “All our dreams can come true if we dare to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

Part of our Virtual Assistantship journey is the challenges, hurdles, and obstacles along the way. Sometimes, we encounter projects, documents, or files that give us absolute headaches. It’s either we happen to be clueless about the task, we are overwhelmed by the number of tasks assigned, or we think the task takes a lot of time to meticulously complete. Disney’s movie quotes 6-10 are gentle reminders to keep going. This also does not mean you have to power through your tasks to make them clear. Don’t. Especially if the method does not work for you. (Exception, unless there is a very urgent deadline to meet.) Always remember to learn how to reassess your mental and physical well-being before making rash decisions as such. Ensure you are not on the brink of burnout (this will be in a separate article.)

Be sure to block and plot out your tasks well and make sure to give yourself time and take the necessary breaks. Play video games, watch your favorite Drag Queen slay the stage, or watch your favorite Sit-Com on Netflix or YouTube—whichever works! One of the most significant advantages of our field is the flexibility of our work physically! When the journey’s becoming tough, always remember the reason why you are in the field.
